Questions about Alimony, Inheritance, divorce…. Please Help Me!!!?

Question by Ceejae~n~Mady: Questions about Alimony, Inheritance, divorce…. Please Help Me!!!?
This is a complicated situation!!! My soon to be ex-husband of 6 years is in the coast guard and has free legal aid to help with the divorce. He knows that I cannot afford an attorney which is unfair….. so.. here I am, :) .

For 6 years I was a stay at home mother to a beautiful little girl. I was not allowed to work, nor was I allowed to have friends for both my daughter and myself. I was in a controlling and an emotionally (and at times physically) abusive relationship. Which as my daughter became old enough (She is five now) and she started to defend her mother, the abuse was brought upon her.

We were given orders to be restationed to another unit in another state, so I finally got the courage to make the plans to leave him. But, one day, my daughter cried to me and told me (after daddy called her a moran and dumb a@@ for not cleaning up milk she spilled because she was scared stiff to what he would do) I knew that something had to be done, and quickly.

I finally told him that he needed to leave the home that we owned (which is not in my name) and he moved into his mothers home. For some reason it came as a shock to him!!!!

Sorry for rampling…. But, this needs to be told to explain the situation….. three years prior I was diagnosed with Spinabifida and diagnosed with fibromyalgia which turned out to be MS. So, now I have been disabled for the last three years. And I am an Army Veteran. I have not completed the papers for both SSI and VA Disability to collect the monies, but, I am in the process of doing it.

Okay, now that you know my story, LOLOL…. Here are the questions.

A) Being Married to a Military Man for 6 Years….and unemployed for all those years and disabled….. Do I qualify for for spousal support (Alimony)???

B) Can I apply for such and represent myself without a lawyer?? Because I cannot afford one…. I can barely feed my daughter and pay for gas!!!

C) With my disabilities (I have Degenertive disk disease, panic attacks and my MS is in remission, which any symptoms are only triggered when he is around, LOLOL)…. Can he take away my daughter? Using my health against me?? I can still take care of her phyically and definately emotionally more so than him!!!!

D) Lastly, My grandmother Passed away, and I am awaiting for a moderate inheritance (around $ 25,000)… There was not will, so it is near the end of Probate, so I should be collecting my monies within the next month hopefully……. Does he have any claim to such even though he has stated he do not want any of the money????

Upgrades to Maryland?s Online Hunter Safety Course Help Students Learn to be Safe and Successful

Upgrades to Maryland’s Online Hunter Safety Course Help Students Learn to be Safe and Successful

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 24, 2011 New features have been added to Maryland’s online hunter safety course that will provide students with a high-quality educational experience that is easy and fun. One feature that remains the same is students can study for free at http://www.hunter-ed.com/Maryland, paying only when they pass their hunter certification exam.
The new version of hunter-ed.com/Maryland offers an optional narration feature that allows students to listen, read or both. Exam questions also are read out loud and include illustrations to help students recall what they’ve learned.
In addition, Maryland’s online hunter safety course is designed to engage students with a combination of short text blocks and detailed illustrations and animations. Using this mix of teaching methods helps students quickly grasp course concepts, rather than get bogged down reading long pages of text. Plus, they can study the material at hunter-ed.com/Maryland at their convenience.
“The best start to continue family traditions of safe hunting is to make sure that young people get a good foundation with a quality hunter safety program,” said Lieutenant Joe Offer, Commander of the Natural Resource Police Training and Education Unit. “Maryland is committed to providing safe hunting experiences for the public. A good hunter safety course goes a long way to ensure we are successful.”
Students who must receive their hunter education certification to obtain a hunting license pay a one-time fee of $ 15, which is due only if they pass the test. Students can take the test as many times as they need to pass it. To complete the hunter education requirements for Maryland, you must pass both the online and field day portions of the hunter education safety course. Field day options are limited, so students are encouraged to ensure a field day is offered in their area before taking the online exam. For more information and to register for a field day, visit http://www.hunter-ed.com/Maryland/field_day.html.
To purchase a Maryland hunting license or to hunt in Maryland, state law requires presentation of a certificate of competency in firearms and hunter safety (required for junior licensees) or certification that you held a hunting license issued prior to July 1, 1977. Students who take the course at hunter-ed.com/Maryland learn the same material that is presented in the classroom course, which includes:
    Hunter responsibility
    Firearms and ammunition
    Firearm handling and safety
    Marksmanship [...] Continue Reading…

Immigrant Rights Rally. `Wisconsin Latin Community Against Anti Immigrant Legislation.

Immigrant Rights Rally. `Wisconsin Latin Community Against Anti Immigrant Legislation.

Madison, WI (PRWEB) March 3, 2006 Last Thursday, the Wisconsin Senate passed Bills SB567 and SB334, both anti-immigrant laws aimed at refusing services to families who reside in Wisconsin without legal status. Through SB567, these families will be denied access to public programs such as school lunch programs for children, domestic abuse assistance, prenatal care, and medical assistance. Through SB334, adults will not be able to access drivers’ licenses—a proposal that national security experts have actually acknowledged undermines national security.
If these laws are put into effect, they will have a negative impact on immigrant families as well as on the health and safety of all families in Wisconsin. Therefore, Voces de la Frontera and its supporters are holding a rally on Saturday, March 4th at 4:00 in the evening at Brittingham Park to protest the passage of Bills SB567 and SB334 and to demand that Governor Doyle veto the bills. Voces de la Frontera is a group that works in Madison and Milwaukee to educate low-wage and immigrant workers about their employment rights and to promote community organization in order to achieve policy changes that benefit the immigrant community and workforce at large. The event will feature various community leaders, music, and lots of information about immigrant issues.
Through the United States, immigrants without legal status are regular members of society. In many cases, these immigrants have sought refuge in the United States as a result of poverty or job loss in their countries caused by US-initiated free trade agreements. They work hard and aid the economy through their labor, purchases, and often withholdings from their paycheck—none of which they will ever receive in a refund check. Yet the Wisconsin State Senate has voted to deny these members of our society and their children basic human services and drivers licenses.
Please join Voces de la Frontera and others at the Immigrant Rights Rally this Saturday. The event will lead up to a march to the capitol on Thursday, March 9th. See you there!

The Damage Inflicted by Ineffective “Safe Haven” Laws

The Damage Inflicted by Ineffective “Safe Haven” Laws

(PRWEB) February 10, 2003 Forty-two states now have some type of safe haven legislation. (The following states do not have safe haven legislation: AK, HI, MA, NE, NH, VT, VA and WY.) Most of the laws designate hospitals, emergency medical services, fire stations and police stations as safe locations. One exception is New York, which stipulates that the baby may be left with a suitable person or may be left in a suitable location so long as an appropriate person is promptly notified. Immunity is granted generally to employees who are required to accept and care for relinquished infants. About half of the states will not prosecute parents who relinquish unharmed infants. The remainder allows an affirmative defense to prosecution. State laws vary on the age of infants who may be relinquished. The ages range from 72 hours old or younger up to 5 days old or younger. The most common ages found in the statutes are 72 hours and 30 days.
While the intent of lawmakers and supporters to save babies is a noble one, the solution by creating new “privacy laws” just as adoptees are succeeding in overturning older privacy laws, is a blatant manipulation by the adoption industry.
The alternative to creating new and damaging privacy laws should
be creating places where an overwhelmed mother can get financial and emotional assistance to care for and keep her own child by keeping families together, not tearing them apart. Promoting abandonment is not the answer.
If you doubt that the adoption industry is the prime financial benefactor to these new laws then look at how these laws effects some parts of adoption:
They contravene sections of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) which give tribes first custody rights in cases of child relinquishment and they deter adoption through traditional legal channels and replace standard practice with what some Safe Haven advocates call “non-bureaucratic placement”. They deny the right of identity to infants abandoned “legally” and strip the infants of all genetic, medical and social history. They include little or no safeguards against third party intervention (father who doesn’t want responsibility and embarrassed grandparents,). They ignore established birth parent revocation timeframes that permit a birth parent – usually the mother – to reclaim her child in a reasonable amount of time.
Fathers, Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents, Sisters and Brothers all deserve an opportunity to care for a child before a government sanctions the child as anonymously relinquished and incontrovertibly abandoned and bequeaths he or [...] Continue Reading…
